SHELBURNE, N.S. — Not guilty pleas have been entered on behalf of a Shelburne County resident charged in connection with the Barrington Lake wildfire. The pleas were entered in Shelburne provincial court on Wednesday.

Stewart is charged with lighting a fire on privately owned land without permission of the owner or occupier; with failing to take reasonable efforts to prevent the spread of a fire; and with leaving a fire unattended.Nova Scotia wildfire season and burning restrictions start Friday with ground already drying

June 5 in Barrington has been set as the next court date for Stewart. A hearing to set a trial date will be on the docket. Stewart is being represented by Yarmouth lawyer Phil Starr.
