A new course at Northwestern University's Department of Black Studies, titled 'Unsettling Whiteness,' aims to analyze and critique the concept of whiteness and its impact on both white and non-white populations. The course argues that whiteness, despite its pervasiveness in society, has been largely unexamined, and seeks to make its historical, political, and cultural formation visible for analysis and commentary.
