The Northern Lights were on full display Sunday night!
Local photographer Kris Foot was able to capture the lights from Cottonwood Island Park.
He took four vertical photos and stitched them together to create a panoramic image of the entire sky. The Northern Lights known also known as an aurora borealis occur when charges particles collide with gases in the Earth’s upper atmosphere producing tiny flashes that fill the sky with colourful light. The northern lights are most often seen between mid-September and mid-March and usually, you’d need to travel away from town to avoid light pollution to get a good view, but one-in-a-while the lights can be seen dancing right over the city.
