Heat builds into the region next week.
CLEVELAND, Ohio - Temperatures this afternoon will be much warmer, climbing to the upper 80s to around 90 degrees under a mostly sunny sky. A breezy southwest wind between 10 and 20 mph should prevent a lake breeze from developing. There have been a couple light showers in parts of Richland and Ashland counties that will fade as the day goes on.
Near sunset, a few showers may approach from the west as a dying complex of storms arrives from Michigan and Indiana. Severe weather is unlikely. Scattered showers and storms remain in the forecast overnight into Friday. New storms may pop Friday afternoon as a cold front slides southward. High temperatures only reach the upper 70s.Warmer weather returns for Father’s Day on Sunday as high temperatures climb to the upper 80s under a mostly sunny sky.
Excessive heat enters the forecast picture starting on Monday of next week and potentially continuing through at least Thursday. 19 First Alert Weather Days are in place during this time frame to reflect the hazard. High temperatures will be in the low to mid 90s, but the increased humidity will make it feel like 100 degrees or hotter. Rain chances look minimal, with Monday potentially providing the best chance at a few showers and storms as the heat ridge builds over the region.
