Infrastructure Ontario issues RFQ for redevelopment project at North York General Hospital, expanding capacity for highest acuity services.

Infrastructure Ontario (IO) has issued a request for qualifications (RFQ) for a new patient care tower redevelopment project at North York General Hospital (NYGH). Located in Toronto's Don Valley North neighbourhood, the multi-phased project will increase capacity across NYGH's highest acuity services. The new tower will span 11 floors and feature two underground parking levels, connecting to NYGH's existing building on six levels.

It will accommodate up to 317 private patient bedrooms, expanding NYGH's acute care capacity by approximately 100 net-new beds. Additional space will be allocated to other acute care programs and services. Responders to the RFQ will be assessed based on criteria such as team composition, experience in collaborative project delivery, health and safety, and past project examples. Shortlisted teams will be invited to submit proposals, expected in summer 2025. The redevelopment project utilizes IO's Alliance model, a collaborative approach involving a public sector agency (owner) and private sector parties to share risks and responsibilities in delivering major capital assets
