FAIRBANKS, Alaska - The Independence Day holiday on Tuesday, July 4 will see a familiar parade returning to Interior Alaska.

The 4th of July North Pole Parade is scheduled to start at 10:00 a.m. on St. Nicholas Drive near Thai Cuisine Restaurant. From there, the route will turn onto 5th Avenue, passing Santa’s Senior Citizens, a nearby senior center, and following Santa Claus Lane before heading back toward St. Nicholas Drive, ending near First Baptist Church.

The event is being put on by the North Pole Community Chamber of Commerce . According to organizer Terry Renson, Director of NPCCC, this is the first 4th of July parade in the city since 2019. Participants include local businesses and youth organizations, the military, and Santa Claus himself. “We have floats. We have antique cars, which I’m very excited about. We have the VFW American Legion. We have three fire departments that will be with us,” Renson said, adding, “We’re bringing back a sense of community in North Pole, us getting together and starting to have a lot more events, which is what the North Pole Chamber of Commerce, that’s one of our main goals.

North Pole celebrations will also include a pancake feed at the senior center and a picnic at the North Pole Grange.
