An organization for young athletes in North Carolina was blasted for offering a rifle as a prize in a fundraising raffle.

According to a spokesperson, the winner of the raffle must be 21 years old, complete an ATF form, and pass a background check before taking possession of the prize. Football players in the EHYFCL are aged five to 13 years old while members of the cheerleading squad are between four and 13. The league’s leaders fired back at critics, taking to Facebook to write a “response to complaints made both publicly and ‘anonymously’ regarding our raffle.”Article content
