A man broke into Norteños Taqueria in Thunder Bay, drinking alcohol and pulling the fire alarm before police arrived. The incident caused minimal damage and no other items were stolen.
Norteños Taqueria in Thunder Bay was broken into Saturday morning. The incident took place at 7 a.m. The Mexican restaurant was closed until 1 p.m. today for repairs. Jamie Baratta, the owner of Norteños Taqueria , said the restaurant caught the individual on camera. He smashed the front window and came in, drank a little bit of the alcohol and then he pulled the fire alarm,' said Baratta. 'The fire (department) and police were here probably within a half hour of him coming in.
' Baratta said nothing was stolen during the incident other than the alcohol the individual drank. ‘We could see he just kind of walked around. Nothing really got taken. Thankfully, it wasn’t as bad as it could have been,” said Baratta. As a result, he added that other than the broken window, it should be business as usual. By noon the restaurant was mostly cleaned up and things were set to go well for its opening later in the afternoon. However, the business in the meantime has some wood over the window that got broken into. Baratta said it’d be nice if the man were held accountable, but he 'highly doubts he will.' 'Breaking and entry is a crime. I guess (he could) reimburse us for the alcohol that he took that we had to throw out, but I’m not holding my breath as I typically wouldn’t think anything will happen.
