The nominations deadline for the Oct. 24 civic election ended at 2 p.m. Friday, and a final/official list of candidates for the municipal and school boards elections is anticipated early next week

Until the bitter end, it appeared as though Ward 9 Coun. Deb McIntosh was going to be in by acclamation, but last-minute registrations appear to signal a campaign for her council seat.

Although the list posted online by late-afternoon Friday didn’t include anyone running against McIntosh at first, she told Sudbury.com she caught wind that someone had filed their papers at Tom Davies Square at the last minute. .“Under the legislation the clerk has until Monday, August 22 to review and certify all nominations for office that have been received,” according to the city.

Landry-Altmann has retained the seat since 2006. She faced four opponents in the 2018 election, whom she beat by securing approximately 62 per cent of the vote, similar to McIntosh.
