Guardians manager Terry Francona said afterward that he decided to take Syndergaard out after watching him throw off the mound following the injury. In the second, Josh Naylor turned in a double play when he snagged a line drive by Yainer Diaz and stepped on first base before Jose Abreu could get back to the bag.
