Should A&M defeat Penn State and second-seed Texas beats 15th-seeded Colgate on Thursday, the Aggies and Longhorns would meet on Saturday in Des Moines for the right to advance to the Sweet 16 in Kansas City, Mo. The Aggies are 4-0 all-time against Penn State and the teams last played in 2017. The Nittany Lions are in their second season under coach Micah Shrewsberry, whom multiple outlets have reported is a candidate for the vacant Georgetown job.
The Nittany Lions lost by two in the Big Ten tournament title game on Sunday to No. 5 Purdue. A&M earlier Sunday lost in the SEC tournament title game 82-63 to Alabama, which earned one of the nation’s top four seeds.
