Chris Boushy is more goal scorer than playmaker. The Halifax Thunderbirds fourth-year forward headed into last Saturday’s regular-season finale in Georgia ...

Halifax forward Chris Boushy is coming off a team-record 13-point game in the Thunderbirds' 17-11 victory over the Georgia Swarm on Saturday night in Duluth, Ga. The win clinched a playoff berth for the Thunderbirds. - NATIONAL LACROSSE LEAGUEThe Halifax Thunderbirds fourth-year forward headed into last Saturday’s regular-season finale in Georgia with 33 goals and just 13 assists.

“I had a few seven-, eight-point games, a seven-goal game and a nine-point game against Georgia in my rookie year. That was a big game. But this one is obviously the biggest, not only for the point total aspect, but for what the win meant for the team. Knowing you helped your team win and you did your job, it doesn’t matter if you had one goal, three goals or five, as long as you perform well enough. Stats aside that win was really important.

Chris Boushy goes airborne and beats Georgia Swarm goalie Brett Dobson while being checked by defenceman Adam Wiedemann in NLL action Saturday in Duluth, Ga. - NATIONAL LACROSSE LEAGUE “We’ve been in a playoff mode for about three weeks now,” said Boushy, who finished the season with a team-leading 38 goals to go along with 59 points. “All those games at the end of the season meant more than we wanted them to be. But in the end, they will help us out and give us a jump on everybody.

Halifax and Toronto played each other twice during the regular season. The Rock were victorious 17-8 at home on Jan. 14. The Thunderbirds returned the favour on March 18 with a 14-12 win at Scotiabank Centre.
