Prosecutors say after a series of conflicts, a Sooke man waited outside his neighbour's home and shot him five feet from his front door.

Paul Tregear is pleading not guilty to five charges after Crown says he waited outside his neighbour’s home before shooting a 1940s-style rifle at his stomach.

Following the shot, Green says there was a struggle over the firearm where Tregear sustained injuries. One RCMP officer remained at the scene who found a rifle, covered in mud and dirt, with a bullet in the chamberHe also described seeing blood on the ground, a discarded ball cap and pair of slippers.
