According to Deadline, Dream Scenario has landed a release date. Dream Scenario will hit theaters on November 10. Prior to its release date, Dream Scenario will open for the Toronto International Film Festival ’s Platform section. How Will the SAG-AFTRA Strike Affect Dream Scenario? Dream Scenario looks entirely unique for Cage. If Aster has had any effect on Borgli’s approach, the film will leave room for a bizarre and out-of-the-box performance for Cage. Cage has shown his strength in the new wave horror subgenre in recent years, starring in Color Out of Space and Mandy, as well as playing Dracula in Renfield.
Dream Scenario still faces the daunting roadblock of the SAG-AFTRA strike. While the film is finished and does not need additional work from the actors for the production itself, the union’s strike rules have some serious implications for film distribution. SAG-AFTRA actors are prohibited from numerous including tours, interviews, social media promotion, and festivals.
The anti-festival union rule may pose a particular challenge for Dream Scenario. A TIFF premiere could be a major launching point for an independent film like this one, as actors could hype up a smaller film like this one and elevate it with a sense of elite reputation prior to its release. In the absence of that, Dream Scenario could struggle to get the audiences that it once could pre-strike. Hopefully, the A24 film can overcome this through ingenuity and the talent of Nicolas Cage.
