Nicki Minaj surprised fans in Brooklyn by bringing out Cyndi Lauper for 'Pink Friday Girls,' which samples Lauper's 'Girls Just Wanna Have Fun.'
One video captured Minaj pulling in Lauper for a tight hug and bowing to her before telling the crowd, “I have been speaking about this woman in my interviews since I first began rapping. I never in a million years thought I’d be back rapping in New York with Cyndi Lauper.”Minaj started rapping to her song as Lauper took the stage to take turns singing the chorus to “Girls Just Wanna Have Fun” as it repeats in “Pink Friday Girls.
After the performance, Minaj and Lauper shared a tight hug as Minaj said, “I remember crying to,” before singing lyrics to “True Colors.” Lauper then sang a snippet of the track song acapella with Minaj as the two embraced for another hug. “God bless her. Don’t wait until we’re not here to give ourselves flowers.
