As Houston Raceway Park prepares for its swan song, NHRA drivers are flooded with memories
Before running in the track’s bracket program as a youngster, Enders, 38, watched her father, Gregg, race in the Sportsman category.

It’s going to be the last race , and I want to win this thing.” With his victory here a year ago, Torrence has won at every event currently on the circuit. Torrence has a long history at HRP. He raced Super Comp and Super Gas from 1998 through 2004, followed by two years running in Top Alcohol Dragster, before moving up to the 11,000-horsepower Top Fuel category.
Antron Brown began racing in Houston in the motorcycle class. He got his initial Top Fuel win at HRP in 2008. Setting top speed records at Houston Raceway Park are Tony Schumacher in Top Fuel , John Force in Funny Car and Mike Edwards in Pro Stock . “There’s emotion, because people are thinking, hey, it’s the last race of part of drag racing history, and Houston always had that culture in NHRA drag racing history. The uniqueness, and we’re always there the time of the year. SpringNationals, Houston Raceway Park.”
