'Anyone paying attention to what that guy — what is it? De — DeSantis? DeSantos? — is doing in Florida?' Newsom asked.
Newsom started by focusing fire on conservative Supreme Court justices, but expanded his remarks into a wider screed about Republican-led states' legislation on social issues and the Democratic Party's response.
"This has never happened in our lifetimes," Newsom said."They're taking away rights that have been affirmed over and over again and well-established. Wake up, America, wake up to who you're electing." Of DeSantis, Newsom said,"Has anyone been paying attention to what the hell's happening in this country in the last six to nine months?" and then went on to butcher the Florida governor's name, either intentionally or unintentionally.
"Anyone paying attention to what that guy — what is it? De — DeSantis? DeSantos? — is doing in Florida?" he asked."The attacks on the LGBTQ community? I mean they're now going after social-emotional learning, I mean, CRT, just completely made up after whole cloth."
