Now 26, Johnson’s NBA career to date has felt a bit like wandering through the desert without sniffing the Promised Land.

The Pelicans declined to re-sign Johnson at the end of that season, and he ended up inking a free-agent deal with Toronto.In September of 2021, Johnson signed a 10-day contract with Chicago. He caught COVID, and that deal ran out before he played a minute for the Bulls. Johnson finished the season with the Lakers, who included him in the August trade with Utah that brought Patrick Beverley to L.A. The Jazz immediately waived Johnson.
