New York Times union leaders called on Twitter followers to join a virtual picket line by not engaging with the publication during their day-long walkout.
The New York Times previously suggested that former FBI chiefs James Comey and Andrew McCabe were targeted with audits by the Trump-appointed IRS commissioner, which has since been debunked by an IG probe.are encouraging readers to join a"digital picket line" by not engaging with any Times content on Thursday to support their one-day strike against the paper.
"We’re asking readers to not engage in any @nytimes platforms tomorrow and stand with us on the digital picket line! Read local news. Listen to public radio. Make something from a cookbook. Break your Wordle streak," Hess tweeted. Times reporter and union member Maggie Astor followed up with a tweet with almost identical language.
