'FELT LIKE AN EARTHQUAKE': Witnesses describe hearing screams and seeing cars falling in the building

Fire officials said six workers were in the building. Of these, four were transferred to the hospital in stable condition, one refused medical attention, and one person was confirmed dead. Everyone else inside the parking lot is believed to be accounted for. The NYPD described the disaster as a"structural collapse." Engineers have been deployed and are studying nearby buildings.
The NYC's Department of Buildings said the parking garage had an unspecified violation in 2003 and had active permits related to electrical work on the premise.
