New York City has averaged 2,899 confirmed cases each day over the past week, according to the NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene, leading to long lines at testing site across the city.

New York City, once the epicenter of the pandemic in the United States, is seeing some unwelcome echoes of 2020.

Dr. Bruce Y. Lee, a professor of health policy and management at the City University of New York, said the shift likely owes to building anxiety over the Several Broadway shows canceled performances this week as a result of Covid infections among either cast or crew members.
