While the tradition of New Year's resolutions persists, younger generations and women are particularly embracing alternative goal-setting methods like '2025 bingo cards' and 'dream boards'. Experts say the desire for change and self-improvement remains, even if the terminology evolves.

For many of us, the end of December is when we take stock — of our accomplishments, our blessings, our losses, our pants that stopped fitting comfortably somewhere after the last holiday potluck. But does anyone still make resolutions? Yes, but many don't call them that anymore.A person jogs in Vancouver on a grey day in May. Breaking down goals makes them more manageable, she explained. Here again, she said, it's important to be specific.

The health and behavioural experts suggest starting small, focusing on what your resolution will help you accomplish, thinking in terms of goals rather than kicking bad habits, enlisting friends for support, and being kind to yourself.
