When Ben and Kelley Skinner decided to open a bar, they knew they were bringing chef and friend Reggie Wilson along.The Skinners have opened Kelley’s Pub & Patio and Wilson relocated his“It was always our plan to get Reggie in,” Ben Skinner said.When the opportunity presented itself, Ben Skinner, Oliver “Ollie” Moore III and Wilson made a successful offer to purchase the restaurant, which had more than 50 years of history at the location.
The Skinners, who opened the place June 3 after a light remodel, had a slow rollout with a grand opening celebration planned for July 8. Shrimp and grits is another signature dish, using Cajun-seasoned crustaceans, both cheddar and mozzarella in the grits, a topping of collard greens and a garnish of tomatoes and green onions.There are three basic burger options, made from a half-pound of meat: regular, bacon mushroom and the ridiculous burger, topped with turkey bacon, American cheese, a fried egg and typical garnishes. A double ridiculous burger also is available. Fresh cut fries are served on the side.
