The Simpsons love homage.

Summary SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT The latest The Simpsons holiday short will bring together a couple dozen notable Disney characters. The Simpsons is currently in season 35, which began in October 2023 with an episode called “Homer’s Crossing.” Its next episode, titled “The Tell-Tale Pants,” is set for release this weekend on May 5. The Simpsons season 36 has also been confirmed for renewal.

In addition to this announcement, Disney+ included a poster of the short. This poster included an image of Marge Simpson having her signature blue hair blown back by a familiar furry Star Wars figure. Referencing said figure, Disney captioned the post with “Wookie what we have here.” Why This Disney Short Makes Sense for The Simpsons This adaptation will be particularly interesting to see as the Disney characters included stem from different visual eras of Disney, be in Pixar-style CG or the 2D animation era.

While this will be the largest Disney-related Simpsons special to date, paying homage to other projects has long been a staple of The Simpsons. Every year, the animated series produces a number of “Treehouse of Horror” episodes around Halloween time. These episodes have included a number of major homages, parodying titles like King Kong, The Poltergeist, 2001: A Space Odyssey, The Shining, and Soylent Green.
