Poll shows Greg Abbott maintains lead over Beto O'Rourke in race for Texas governor
Gov. Greg Abbott is still leading Beto O'Rourke in the race for Texas governor, according to an August 2022 poll by the University of Texas-Tyler and the Dallas Morning News. Greg Abbott maintains his lead over Democratic challenger Beto O'Rourke in this fall's race for Texas governor.
O'Rourke, for his part, has projected confidence as he continues his 49-day tour of the state. The former congressman and El Paso City Council member, according to the Dallas Morning News. The UT-Tyler and Dallas Morning News poll shows that about 49% of Texas voters"disapprove" or"strongly disapprove" of the Supreme Court's decision to overturn Roe v. Wade, while about 42%"approve" or"strongly approve" of the decision.
