Henderson Paris spoke to students about the stand Viola Desmond took 76 years ago at the Roseland Theatre in New Glasgow.Seventy-six years after Viola Desmond was wrongly arrested at the Roseland Theatre for sitting in the white only section, students from A.G. Baillie Memorial School gathered at the same site to learn about the Black woman’s courageous stand for equality.
“Can you just imagine walking in and you just sit down to enjoy your movie and you are dragged out?” Paris said.
