A new 4v1 Ghostbusters game from the Friday the 13th: The Game developer will let you play as Slimer.
IllFonic, the development crew best known for Friday the 13th: The Game, has announced Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed, a new asymmetrical multiplayer title featuring playable Ghostbusters and playable Ghosts. The team at IllFonic received the short end of the stick when it came to Friday the 13th gaming content, since the horror game launched amid a legal dispute between the brand's creators that brought all copyrighted use to an abrupt halt.
It didn't take long for the studio to bounce back, though. In 2020, IllFonic unleashed Predator: Hunting Grounds on PC and PS4, offering up another asymmetrical multiplayer adventure based on a classic horror franchise. This 4v1 experience placed four players in the role of an elite fireteam tasked with tracking down the titular Predator. Admittedly, Hunting Grounds failed to hit the mark in many respects, resulting in a quickly dwindling player-base.
Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed's central hub will take place in the iconic Firehouse location, where players on both sides of the spirit realm can expect to customize their characters, upgrade their gear, participate in target practice sessions. While the four Ghostbusters make use of Proton Packs and Ghost Traps, the Ghost themselves boast flying and teleportation abilities, along with the power to possess various objects.
