The city\u0027s historic Drinkle Mall sees The Avenue Room open as a large and impressive space for any occasion.
Originally built in 1913 in the Drinkle No. 3 building, the room has been restored to its original hardwood floors and terracotta brick walls. The main features that really make it impressive are it’s very large space — the ceiling is about 24 feet high. It’s tall and grand. And it also features fantastic antique chandeliers from its days as Lucci’s, one of the premier restaurants in Saskatoon in the 1970s and 1980s.
The room was originally planned to be a bank. It never actually happened, but if you think about the grand old banks, they were really quite elaborate and stunning. So this space always had a grand vision. Most recently it was Chandeliers restaurant. But I think it’s a difficult space to have a restaurant in because of the fact that it’s so large. In Saskatoon, I don’t think there’s the capacity for that kind of restaurant, but as an event space, I think it’s perfect.Article content

I have worked for 17 years in the charitable sector and needed a change, so I decided to go to cooking school in Italy for six months and that kind of grew my passion for food into a business.
Our food style is very accessible and simple, but really focusing on really good flavours. So, lots of fresh herbs, I love the flavour of citrus, really kind of simple ingredients that you recognize, but people tend to say that they find our food really delicious because we focus on flavours as opposed to trying to make things too fancy.
