A new art exhibition is coming to Burnaby this month showcasing the work of a single donor's collection.

"A Studio Quivering in Readiness delves into a rich tapestry of West Coast art sustained and nurtured by the friendships and collecting practices of Harry Locke, a lifelong supporter and patron of the arts," stated a City of Burnaby press release. The exhibition at the Burnaby Art Gallery will feature works by Gordon Adaskin, Todd Baker, Wayne Eastcott, Max Ernst, Miriam Haworth, Brian Fisher, Roy Kiyooka, Toni Onley, Bill Reid, Lin Chien-Shih, Gordon Smith and Jack Wise.

Locke, the donor, was a Burnaby resident who taught English at Carson Graham Secondary School in North Vancouver and served on the Burnaby Art Gallery Association board from 1974 to 1980.His archival letters will also be included in the exhibit. "His deep connections across the arts are reflected in the works on display, which stand as a testament to the impact of his patronage on the artists' studio practices."Cost: Free admission
