Licensing permission for an events space at a Ribble Valley country estate, which currently offers wedding, camping, holiday home and business hospitality, has been agreed after an objection about potential disturbance to neighbours was withdrawn.
Gisburne Park Estate near Clitheroe has been giving premises licence approval for an Events Space at the site, which is also home to the Ribblesdale Park camping site and holiday homes for families and groups.
Ribble Valley councillors on the borough’s Licensing Sub-Committee were due to formally consider the Event Space application at a recent meeting. However, it was removed from the sub-committee agenda after informal talks between different sides. Details in the application form had included proposals on day and night operating hours for the Events Space through the week.The council had put the Gisburne Park licence application on the meeting section of its website.
It said: “The premises licence application in respect of the Event Space at Gisburne Park Estate, which had been listed for consideration by the sub-committee, had been the subject of negotiation between the applicant and other parties who had made representations. “This resulted in agreement between the parties and the consequential withdrawal of the representations, enabling the licence to be granted on agreed terms and the removal of the application from the agenda for the meeting.”
A council officer said a premises licence application is only determined by the sub-committee, if representations are submitted within a 28 day period. In the case of the Event Space, representations were received and a hearing was arranged for Monday, July 11, of which all parties were notified as required.Licensing laws and associated guidance encourage mediation and open dialogue between applicants and people who submit representations.
