Close to 200 runners competed this weekend at the Flapjack 5K course in Friendswood.
Some Flapjack 5K trophies are waiting for the top finishers to claim their award Saturday morning at Stevenson Park.With pancakes covered in yummy syrup as their reward for completing the course, close to 200 runners competed Saturday in Friendswood's annual Flapjack 5K Fun Run.
Conquering that new look to the course for the championship was 14-year-old Aiden Fitzgerald, who reached the finish in 16:56.3. The honor for fastest female went to 45-year-old Tao Tu, who came in at 20:40.1, good for 10th overall. The oldest Top-10 finisher went to 49-year-old David Morris and his strong 19:29.9 effort, guiding him to seventh overall. Morris however was named the champion of the 40-to-49 age group with that time. Eighth went to 30-year-old Adam Nathan, who hit 20 minutes on the dot. Ninth went to 15-year-old Damon Bree and his 20:35.8 time.
Grayson Rhodes, 7, won the 9-and-under girls division in 28:34.7. McKinley Thai, 13, secured top accolades in the 10-to-14 age division, pounding out the time of 21:05.2. She was 16th overall. Abigail Kerr, 11, claimed second place in the 10-to-14 age group at 23:57.5. Third went to 13-year-old Kennady Rhodes and her 25:28.1 time.
