Andrew Scheer’s party has mailed a survey to donors, asking them to rank Canadian media outlets based on each one’s perceived ideological leanings

Andrew Scheer’s Conservative Party is setting itself up to run against a familiar foe in the upcoming election: the media.

Beyond surveying supporters’ news diet, the mail-out asks whether the party should “bypass” the news media and instead hone “an aggressive social media strategy to communicate with people directly in their homes or on their mobile devices” and whether the party “should focus on direct voter contact … that will allow us to take our message to voters unfiltered.”

The direct-mail appeal to donors included a letter from Marshall, but the party refused to provide it to the Post. Scheer appointed Marshall as his campaign director for the upcoming election despite controversy over Marshall’s connections to Rebel Media, an ideological cousin of Breitbart.
