Since Abbasov missed weight, only Lee could win the title, with it becoming vacant otherwise. The action in the opening frame was electric. Abbasov scored again and again with heavy left and right hooks to the head, with Lee grappling and looking for takedowns. Halfway through, Abbasov smashed Lee with a brutal hook, sending him crashing to the canvas and very close to being out.
In the next two rounds, both men were tired, but Lee was doing better, starting to score with his own striking and continuing to shoot for takedowns, though Abbasov still landed big hooks when he had enough stamina to throw them. Lee had major success in Round 4 by repeatedly bashing Abbasov's legs with a series of kicks and then adding a torrent of hammer-like elbows in the clinch for good measure.
