Experts say the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's recent relaxation of its Covid-19 recommendations is likely to trigger new guidance from other federal agencies and likely will require employers to tweak their existing policies.on Aug. 11. It includes the relaxing of quarantine, testing and social-distancing measures, among other changes.
Christopher Nickels, partner at Quarles & Brady and leader of the firm's OSHA and Workplace Safety service, said employers have been waiting all yearHe said the CDC's guidance has become a standard for other agencies, so it's important for employers to continue to monitor and follow the most current CDC guidance.
Other changes will affect how employers handle Covid-19 exposure, quarantines and masking. For example, in the CDC's new guidance, unvaccinated people who are exposed to Covid-19 no longer need to quarantine five days if they haven't tested positive and have no symptoms.
