The Peterborough Victoria Northumberland and Clarington Catholic District School Board is announcing the official name for the new elementary school in Bowmanville. Construction is still underway at the new state-of-the-art building at Northglen Boulevard and Middle Road, near Concession 3 and Bowmanville Avenue.
The naming process was guided by a committee that developed a shortlist that aligned with board policy, gathered extensive community ranking feedback and consulted with the Bishop of the Diocese of Peterborough to finalize the selection. The school board has approved it and now it will be submitted to the Ministry of Education for approval in the spring. Now, the board is turning their attention to developing the official school colours and a crest or logo.
Once it’s completed, the school will accommodate nearly 500 Kindergarten to Grade 8 students and feature a three-room child care centre, a gym, learning commons and direct access to a park beside the school. St. Cecilia is the patron saint of music and musicians. She is celebrated for her unwavering faith, courage and joyful spirit.
