Brewsmith, a new brewery in Calgary's Bowness neighbourhood, offers a unique selection of beers, including small-batch brews, and a menu of gourmet hot dogs and other bar snacks.
One of the best things about living in Calgary is the sheer amount of great breweries. And now, local beer fans have a new destination to check out in Bowness . Brewsmith offers a casual, community-oriented space to enjoy unique beers. In addition to walls covered in local art, the taproom has a mix of comfortable chairs and tables or larger bench seating for bigger groups.
Brewsmith has a variety of beer styles to choose from, with signature offerings like a hazy and juicy pale ale and a darker brown pub ale. But what’s particularly exciting are the special small-batch brews coming out of the taproom. Head brewer Colin Baldner is creating a hugely varied lineup with beers like a chocolate oatmeal stout, a tropical wheat ale that’s almost stepping into sour territory and seasonal flavours like Nonna Approved, an Italian Christmas cookie ale released for the holidays. The food menu is full of casual bar snacks and a selection of gourmet hot dogs — because nothing goes better with beer. Grab a hot dog topped with chili and beer cheese, one with jalapenos, caramelized onions and jalapeno cream cheese, or the banh mi dog with pickled veggies, sriracha mayo and cilantro. Other bites like a fresh lobster roll, taquitos or popcorn round out the menu
