North East School of the Arts grad Preston Perez is making his Broadway debut in the Neil Diamond jukebox musical 'A Beautiful Noise.'

He was brought back to earth when he spotted his mom, Stefani Bohmfalk, outside the stage door after his first performance. He didn't expect to see her there, because the date for his debut had been pushed up on short notice, and she told him she didn't think she'd be able to get there in time. But she did.

"I was floating on the surface of it all, and seeing my mom was so grounding," he said."It’s just me and her, and she has gone so far out of her way to make things happen for me, so it was so special to see her there."Actor Preston Perez, a San Antonio native and graduate of the North East School of the Arts, made his Broadway debut in the Neil Diamond jukebox musical"A Beautiful Noise.

Perez got serious about theater at Tejeda Middle School when he had to choose between football and an advanced theater class that was offered at the same time. He opted for the latter and was so taken with performing that he did a few shows at the"Once I got in, that was my first time feeling like this is something I’m good at," he said."And then, going to NESA was like a joyous, beautiful, theatrical experience.
