The number of electric vehicles registered in Nova Scotia is growing, but experts in the industry say charging infrastructure hasn’t kept pace.The number of electric vehicles and hybrids in Nova Scotia has gone up significantly in recent years. Experts say charging infrastructure hasn't kept pace. Chad MacLean helped open a repair shop for electric vehicles in Dartmouth, N.S., two years ago because he saw an opportunity.
"Outside of this garage here, outside of repairs, outside of anything, I would say the biggest challenge for people in Nova Scotia is the charging infrastructure, " said MacLean, who co-owns and operates Garage EV.Chad MacLean, co-owner and operator of Garage EV in Dartmouth, said his customers tell him they don't have a problem getting a charge on trips outside Nova Scotia.
Kurt Sampson, zero-emissions advocate with CAA Atlantic and co-founder of the Electric Vehicle Association of Atlantic Canada, said charging infrastructure in Halifax and other parts of the province could be better by next summer.
