A key Republican state senator in Nebraska has blocked a Republican-led effort to change how the state counts its electoral votes, effectively preventing all five electoral votes from going to Donald Trump if he wins the state.
A key Republican in the Nebraska state legislature appears to have doomed a Republican push to change how the state counts its electoral votes . Donald Trump and Republican members of Congress last week urged Nebraska Republicans to alter their electoral vote protocol so the state's five electoral votes all go to Trump, instead of allowing one to go to the Democratic candidate based on how Nebraska ns vote. Nebraska and Maine are the only states that don't follow a winner-take-all formula.
“I have taken time to listen carefully to Nebraskans and national leaders on both sides of the issue. After deep consideration, it is clear to me that right now, 43 days from Election Day, is not the moment to make this change,' State Sen. Mike McDonnell said in a statement Monday.
