Most Canadians are regularly having fish and other seafood meals despite high grocery prices, according to a new survey by Dalhousie University's Agri-Food Analytics Lab.
Fish and other seafood dishes are routinely included in their meals, 87 per cent of Canadians said in a recent poll conducted by the Agri-Food Analytics Lab at Dalhousie University and the Angus Reid Institute.
Canadians are primarily buying fish, like finfish, trout or salmon, as opposed to other forms of seafood – such as crab, mussels, oysters, shellfish or crustacean, Colombo told Global News. The cost for fresh or frozen fish was up 3.8 per cent annually in September, while canned and other preserved fish saw a year-over-year price hike of 8.9 per cent last month.
