CBSA discovered opium in two separate items at two Metro Vancouver examination facilities
On Aug. 15, Canada Border Services Agency officers and a detector dog team found 150 kg of opium hidden inside the interior structure of a piece of steel machinery at a container examination facility in Burnaby.In the second instance, on Aug. 28, officers discovered 46 kg of opium concealed inside a piece of furniture at the Tsawwassen facility.
“These seizures demonstrate the diligence and detection capabilities of our border services officers and the important role of our intelligence operations in keeping these harmful drugs out of our communities,” said Nina Patel, regional director general of CBSA’s Pacific Region, in a statement.
