"We don't have enough to worry about, now we have inexperienced teens on the road behind the wheel," Jennifer House told Fox 5 Atlanta. Others seem okay with it, like Kendra Woodard, who told Fox 5, "I'm good with dropping the road test piece so [my daughter] can get out there and drive."broke down how the move accounts for a backlog in the licensing system in the Peach State. According to the local ABC affiliate, over 5,000 teens took their road test a week prior to the pandemic; the onset of the crisis created a backlog of 30,000 people waiting for a chance.
"What the executive order does, it allows the teen driver to go to that next phase without having to take that road test because of social distancing problems, obviously, in trying to provide the test," Spencer Moore, commissioner of Georgia’s Department of Driver Services ,WSB-TV 2 reported that teens can apply for a provisional license as long as they provide an affidavit that they’ve completed 40 hours of training with either a parent or driving instructor.
“Many of them are trained in those settings and they are ready to go,” Moore told WSB-TV 2. “We see a very high pass rate. We see more than 80% on their first round go.”
