Nearly 110 Million Americans Under Extreme Heat Advisories—Here’s Where Temperature Records Could Fall

Forecasters warn “dangerous” heat will intensify throughout the week in the South and Southwest.

About one-third of the U.S. population is under extreme heat advisories Wednesday morning as a cross-country heat wave threatens to topple longstanding daily temperature records from California to Florida, and temperatures are expected to rise throughout the week.

Excessive heat watches are also in place in northern California while heat advisories are in effect in Arkansas, Florida, Kansas, Louisiana, Missouri, New Mexico and Texas.
