Whether there will be access to Westboro Beach remains up in the air for a second summer as the end date for the National Capital Commission\u0027s rehabilitation of the beach pushes into a third year.
But the NCC is trying to figure out a safe way to give the public access to the beach, even as the construction continues.
“The team started their work on March 20 and it’s expected to be complete in November, eight months earlier than expected,” said Seaman, who chaired the final meeting of his six-year term on the board Thursday. The NCC said the work on the bridge was accelerated to minimize the effect on residents.Article content
Meanwhile, the end draws closer for the Alexandra Bridge, aka the Interprovincial Bridge, that crosses the Ottawa River beside the National Art Gallery on the Ottawa side. Work to begin dismantling the 125-year-old span is expected to begin in 2028 and continue until 2032, Seaman said.
