North Texans can expect above-normal temperatures on Tuesday, but the warm weather won't last long.
Today will be a remarkably warm day for November across North Texas. A powerful storm system will fuel a strong south to southwest wind today. Gusts over 25 mph are possible. This warm wind will help boost the temperatures into the middle and upper 70s this afternoon. This will be well above the normal high of 62 today. The day will start with cloud cover and even a brief chance of sprinkles or stray shower to the east of DFW.
Farther east, showers and thunderstorms will develop into Louisiana and Arkansas. These storms will get stronger as they push toward the Mississippi Valley. Some storms could produce strong tornadoes in this region overnight. Meanwhile, DFW is not expecting rain. Instead, clouds will clear out and sunshine will prevail this afternoon.
A cold front will push in much colder air tonight into Wednesday morning. In fact, Wednesday is expected to be 20 to 30° colder thanks to a blustery north wind. Wind chills will drop into the 20s by Wednesday morning.Sign up for NBC DFW newslettersBy Friday and this weekend however, temperatures will rebound back into the 60s. A low chance of rain will also return for the weekend. Don't cancel plans just yet, as there is still some uncertainty regarding coverage and timing of the rain.
