VALLEY VIEW, Ohio -- Are you hoping to celebrate National Dog Day by adopting a new pup? Cuyahoga County Animal Shelter has reduced adoption fees for adult dogs to only $20 through Sept. 1.
To meet the shelter’s eligibility requirements to adopt a dog, you must be at least 18 years old, confirm the adoption meets any landlord or homeowner’s association requirements and complete a successful meet-and-greet if there are other dogs or children 9 years old or younger living in the home. Online adoption applications are not accepted. All adoptions must take place in person at the shelter, which is located at 9500 Sweet Valley Drive in Valley View. The shelter’s hours are Tuesday through Saturday from 10:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday from noon to 4 p.m. The shelter is closed on Mondays.
Once you arrive at the shelter, you will complete a short questionnaire, meet with a staff member to discuss your answers and then meet the adoptable pet. The reduced fee is part of the Clear the Shelters campaign, a partnership between hundreds of shelters across the country and NBCUniversal Local, is a month-long adoption initiative that runs from Aug. 10 to Sept. 10.
