The National Archives and Records Administration publicly refuted the falsehood that has been promoted by former Pres. Trump that former presidents have taken presidential records with them when they leave office or kept them in 'substandard conditions.'
"Reports that indicate or imply that those Presidential records were in the possession of the former Presidents or their representatives, after they left office, or that the records were housed in substandard conditions, are false and misleading," NARA said Tuesday in an unusual statement.
In each of these cases, it was NARA that announced where the presidential records would be processed and stored while the presidential libraries were being built. In May 2000, for instance, thethat the site selected for Clinton's records was"formerly the Balch Motor Company," located in Little Rock, about 1.5 miles from"the site of the future Clinton Presidential Library.
