“Some of it is just dictated by the market and the willingness and desire for pitchers to want to be here,” Young said. “We have been very fortunate that we’ve had a number of very talented players who wanted to be Texas Rangers, and they made it happen on their end as much as us making it happen on ours. When you have that mutual feeling and desire to partner together, this is what happens. This is the result of that.
“His wish list was pretty impressive,” Maddux said. “And that impressive wish list has come to fruition.” “I think it’s about the way the ownership is going about building the organization,” Eovaldi said about signing with the Rangers. “I feel they want to win. And it starts with this season. They were able to address the biggest need, starting pitching. We’ve got an abundance of starting pitching and that’s not even reaching down to the minor leagues. I just think now is the time to show the younger guys we can compete.
