Jeff DeWit will step down as finance chief of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration, or NASA
DeWit, who backed Trump’s presidential bid months before the reality television star and real estate developer became the presumptive Republican candidate for the White House, said in an internal memo to employees that his last day at the federal agency would be Thursday, Feb. 13.
“It has been the honor of a lifetime to serve as the Chief Financial Officer of NASA,” DeWit said in the internal memo. “Especially during a time when we have been tasked to go further and faster than ever before.” “In my almost two years as CFO, my team and I have worked long hours to usher in efficiencies and changes which enable NASA to better accomplish all of our missions while protecting taxpayer dollars,” DeWit said in his memo. Several calls to NASA and to DeWit’s office seeking further comment weren’t returned.
