JOHN'S, N.L. — The New Democratic Party of Newfoundland and Labrador is calling on the provincial government to increase home heating oil subsidies.
NDP interim leader Jim Dinn pointed out that even though there is an oil subsidy in place for people on income support, the number hasn’t increased since 2016. Dinn said that his office has received calls from constituents who are freezing as they can’t afford to fill their oil tanks. Dim also suggested broader supports to help those not on income support facing the same inflation pressures.
